Boston Celtics: Easy Upcoming Schedule Will Get Team Back On Track

The Boston Celtics have struggled coming out of the gate, but an easy schedule will help them climb the Eastern Conference Standings.

When I was younger, my mind used to always wonder to the absolute worst case scenario.

At the age of 9, I told my family I thought I had a brain tumor because I had a headache and found online that a headache could be a symptom for a brain tumor. My mother became aware of my constant negative thinking and tried to help me cure myself of this attitude.

She calmly told me, “I will be optimistic. Take a deep breath. Please say it with me.”

“I will be optimistic.”

Now Celtics fans say it with me.

“I will be optimistic.”

It has been well-documented that the start of the 2018-2019 season has been a disappointment for the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are just 11-10 through the first 21 games. They are currently ranked in 6th place in the Eastern Conference, the same conference that many experts picked the Celtics to win at the beginning of the year.

At some points, the team has been hard to watch. It has made fans think, maybe the Celtics are just a mediocre basketball team. But, I can assure you, the season is not lost quite yet. There is reason to be optimistic.

The Celtics are entering what seems to be one of their easiest stretches of games they will have all year. Over the next 9 games, Boston plays just one team (The Detroit Pistons) that would make the playoffs if the season ended today. Of their next 9 games, the Celtics should be favored in at least 7.

In that span, the Celtics will play each of the 5 worst teams by record (Cavaliers, Bulls, Hawks, Suns, and Knicks) in the NBA. That means the Celtics will play against more teams that Media members have argued would lose in a game against Duke University than they will play against playoff rosters.

This Celtics team is in dire need of a boost, and hopefully this string of bad opponents can help do the trick. There is nothing like beating up on bad teams to build up your confidence.

Maybe Gordon Hayward will finally have a breakout game against one of these lowly rosters and regain the swagger he had before his leg injury. Perhaps Jaylen Brown will return to being the assassin we saw play in last year’s playoff.

The Celtics are already 6 games behind the Raptors in the loss column,but could conceivably win each of their next 9 games, which would really help them gain traction in the east as they enter the thick of the NBA season. This could be the run that sparks the Celtics into becoming the NBA Finals contender we thought they were before the season.

Or maybe, of course, the Celtics will remain this sluggish, underwhelming team we have seen all season.

I don’t know which it will be.

But, for now, I’m optimistic.
