Celtic of the Game: Kyrie Irving
Who else could it be on a night like this?
Kyrie Irving scored 39 points, along with 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and a block in 43 minutes of action to lead his Celtic teammates to an overtime victory against a motivated basketball club in the Phoenix Suns.
Not only did Irving put up 39 points but he did so with Haircut Kyrie-level efficiency, on 13-for-28 shooting, with six three-pointers.
Irving was the reason the Celtics are able to leave Phoenix with a win as the other offensive stars Jayson Tatum and Al Horford had subpar offensive games.
It’s nights like these that should remind everyone just how special of a talent Kyrie really is and how fortunate the Celtics are that he is committed to playing out his career donning the Celtic Green.
Although depending on Irving to save them every night with performances (especially being that he will be missing the game against the Utah Jazz to mourn his grandmother) like this one is a recipe for disaster, a win is always preferred to a loss.
Gordon Hayward makes his first trip back to Utah as his 7-4 Boston Celtics will play the 5-6 Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City, Utah tomorrow night at 9:30pm EST.
