Player of the Game: Daniel Theis

Although the Celtics ultimately fell to the Magic, there were bright spots for the Celtics and perhaps none brighter than Daniel Theis.

With Baynes day-to-day with a hamstring strain, the Boston Celtics appeared to be very thin in the center department. However, Daniel Theis was given an opportunity to shake off his rust and took full advantage as he scored 7 points on 60 percent shooting, grabbed 6 rebounds and played intelligent defense, both in one-on-one situations and help defense.

Daniel Theis may not have not the most jaw-dropping stat line tonight, but his energy was a big reason the Celtics were in a position to win the game despite their offensive woes.

The Celtics bench is lacking in a physical presence in a big way with Baynes on the sideline, so this performance from Daniel Theis could mean much more if Baynes misses any more time than expected.

The Boston Celtics will continue their search for their identity this season as they will face off  against Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder in Chesapeake Energy Arena, Thursday night at 8:00 EST.
