How many Boston Celtics do we predict to earn NBA awards in the 2018-2019 NBA season?

Despite outdoing everyone’s expectations for them when Gordon Hayward was lost for the year six minutes into the season, the Boston Celtics were not rewarded when NBA awards season rolled around.

Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens was somehow beat out for Coach of the Year by Dwane Casey, who was promptly fired by the Toronto Raptors.

Jayson Tatum finished third in Rookie of the Year voting, even though he broke into the Boston record books and scored more playoff points than any rookie besides Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Al Horford only made second team All-Defense, as voters must have forgotten he anchored the No. 1 defense in the NBA all season. Kevin Durant somehow had more points and first team All-Defense votes than Marcus Smart or Jaylen Brown. Aron Baynes, who played 81 games and led the entire league in defensive rating, did not receive a single All-Defensive vote.

Boston finished with 55 wins and advanced to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, yet nobody on their team was selected to an All-NBA team. Karl Anthony-Towns alienated his team’s best player with his horrific defense and lukewarm work ethic and nabbed the third team center spot over Al Horford.

How does that happen? Apparently when everybody does their job well, nobody gets the credit.

This season, Boston is back healthy (more or less), and the hype train is building so much momentum Denzel Washington may be called in to stop the runaway freight.
