Boston Celtics: Marcus Smart Ejected for Fight and More Takeaways from Loss to Cleveland Cavaliers
By Thomas King
Other Observations
- Al Horford was perhaps the only Celtics starter to play well. Cleveland switched almost all screens during the game and Horford took advantage, planting himself on the block when a guard tried to check him. Horford’s consistently deep post position forced double teams and he peppered the ball to open shooters out of the double, finishing with a team-high seven assists.
- Two-way player Walt Lemon Jr. once again stood out in garbage time, scoring 10 points and dishing out 3 assists in 15 minutes. Lemon has elite athleticism, drawing comparisons to John Wall from Brian Scalabrine on the Boston broadcast for his ability to take flight from far out and glide toward the rim.
- After signing a training camp deal with the Celtics, Marcus Georges-Hunt saw his first action of the season Saturday. Georges-Hunt played 12 minutes, scoring 7 points.
- Semi Ojeleye‘s nightmarish preseason continued Saturday, as the second-year forward scored just three points in 18 minutes and finished the game a team-worst -16 plus/minus.
- Rookie center Robert Williams III did not enter the game until late in the third quarter, but he made the most of his 10 minutes, blocking another two shots and slamming home an alley-oop dunk. Williams II registered at least one blocked shot in every preseason game.
