The Boston Celtics host the Cleveland Cavaliers at the TD Garden Tuesday in their first meeting since Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The last time the Boston Celtics met the Cleveland Cavaliers, a spot in the the NBA Finals was on the line. Since then, so much has changed.
Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward have returned to action for the Boston Celtics, while LeBron James left Cleveland for Los Angeles, leaving the Cavaliers as an unknown in the Eastern Conference.
Just don’t tell Tristan Thompson that. Apparently forgetting what happened in free agency, Thompson told reporters that Cleveland is still the team to beat in the East.
On Tuesday, we’ll be seeing the new-look Cavaliers for the first since LeBron bolted and Kevin Love took over the mantle as the team’s top dog. The Celtics will return the favor on Saturday, traveling to Cleveland for the Cavs’ preseason home opener at 7:30 pm ET.
Boston is 1-1 so far in their preseason slate of games, flopping in the opener before looking much more like the Celtics we expected in the rematch with the Charlotte Hornets.
