The Boston Celtics Media Day has come and gone, but we got our first glimpse inside the players’ minds heading into training camp. Here are five things we learned from Media Day.

NBA Media days are a time for overpowering optimism and the Boston Celtics players were no different Monday in Canton, Mass. when they met with reporters for the first time this season.

The only difference is, unlike most teams, it seems the Celtics have earned their eagerness. Boston has built a title contender and the healthy return of Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving signals the Celtics may have a legitimate chance to compete for a championship this season.

I wrote a column yesterday about how Irving sounds like a man looking to build a home in Boston for the long haul, but it bears repeating.

In an exclusive interview with NBC Boston, Irving said:

"“It’s like, man, if you only knew how special this organization was, and how special these guys are in this locker room… even if I had the inclination to test free agency, Boston’s gonna be like, ‘No, you’re coming back’. And I’m fine with that”"
