Terry Rozier just came out with a major shoe announcement
Terry Rozier is in a contract year, so he knows how much money is on the line this season. He is coming off a season where he made it clear that he can be a starting point guard in the playoffs.
The problem, however, is that he is falling much further behind the depth chart this season. It is hard to see Rozier having an opportunity to have the kind of impact he did last year, and that could end up costing him money.
Fortunately, there are other ways for athletes to make money, and Rozier has just announced a new deal with Puma. Rozier has never lacked confidence, and he believes in his ability to be a star in the NBA. With the way he is talking about Puma, you know that he has the long term in mind: (Via hotnewhiphop)
"Me signing with Puma is basically letting you know, I’m taking over the Puma world. You got guys taking over Adidas, you got guys taking over Nike, whatever. I’m competing with the Puma world and I’m taking over that s–t. From the jump. That’s my whole thing. I feel like I’m going to turn it up because—I ain’t gonna knock nobody on Puma, but I feel like I’m very marketable, I’m the guy that they needed to sign"
Rozier put himself on the map last season, and now he is building his brand in a special way. He has a long ways to go both on and off the court, but the pieces are there. Rozier knows the kind of potential there will be for him if he has a great season, and this deal with Puma shows you how much the outside world also believes in him,
Rozier is energetic and all eyes are on him when he is on the court. He has potential to be one of the more fun players in the NBA to watch, and Puma obviously feels the same.
He will have to fight to keep his role and keep everything on track this season, but that is nothing new. Rozier has been fighting for his minutes his entire career and it has never fazed him.
In fact, the only thing common throughout his career is the way he takes advantage of opportunities, so I would expect him to still have a major role this season.
