Hardwood Houdini’s first Celtics Big Board

For the last month or so, we have been releasing player profiles, positional rankings, and second round steals in preparation for this first ever Hardwood Houdini Celtics Big Board. This was a collaborative effort by myself, Joshua Bateman, Alex Eddy, and Liam O’Brien.

This will be a ranking of college and international prospects. However, this is not a typical big board you’ll see the national media constructs every year. This is a big board that might look a lot like Danny Ainge’s when June rolls around.

These rankings are based off of talent, upside, and fit with the Celtics. Basically, if the Celtics had the first pick in the draft, this is what their list should look like. If they don’t have the first pick, they still keep the same list, they’ll just cross off names until it’s their turn. Considering the state of the Nets right now, Boston won’t have to wait very long.

70. Ball is the best passer in this year’s draft. He doesn’t score or defend like Fultz can, but he has an intangible quality that helps his team win. Ball could fit in as the primary ball handler in the Celtics’ starting five to give Thomas more room to operate.. PG. UCLA. Lonzo Ball. 2. player

Let us know what you think of our big board. Fultz was a consensus #1, but there wasn’t a player after that who was ranked consistently. We will update this big board after the NCAA Tournament where we expect players to either rise or fall in the rankings.
