A few weeks ago, I posted about the Top 10 prospects in college basketball – https://hardwoodhoudini.com/2014/12/28/early-nba-2015-mock-draft/
Now, I have my first official mock draft. The full lottery this time, and even our future pick, Boston Celtics fans!
Checkout below –
Steviechillz’s Take – 2015 NBA Mock Draft
- New York | Jahlil Okafor | 6-11 | 270 | C | Duke | 19
What can you say about this guy? This Dukie is the coveted gem of the 2015 class due to his skill in the post, his ability to dominate on the boards, and he has a GREAT feel for the game. The Knicks absolutely need a guy like this and IMO, he could play the triangle well.
- Minnesota | Emmanuel Mudiay | 6-5 | 190 | PG | Congo | 18
Mudlay is the great unknown, but based off of his play in highschool and overseas, this guy has ELITE talent and athleticism. Celtics fans, think a more athletic Marcus Smart. Ricky Rubio has been hurt all season, and is looking for a max deal this offseason. Minnesota could cut ties with Rubio and instantly have two showtime players in Mudlay and Wiggins.
- Philadelphia | Stanley Johnson | 6-7 | 245 | SF | Arizona | 18
Athletic, all-around defender. A smaller clone of Andrew Wiggins, Johnson would instantly be a top defender on a young team that will continue to get better and better.
- LA Lakers | Karl-Anthony Towns | 7-0 | 250 | C | Kentucky | 19
What don’t the Lakers have? Besides talent? A center. A center that they haven’t seen since the likes of Andrew Bynum. Towns is a charismatic talent off the bench for Kentucky and would fit well in L.A.
- Orlando | Kelly Oubre | 6-7 | 200 | SF | Kansas | 19
This guy had to earn his minutes early in the season, and he has not disappointed Kansas fans. Oubre is an outstanding defender who does all the little things for a team. He would slide into the starting SF spot perfectly and allow Aaron Gordon to take the PF spot.
- Utah | Myles Turner | 6-11 | 243 | PF/C | Texas | 18
Shot-blocker with the ability to make the 25 foot jumpshot. He does tend to disappear in some of the games I’ve seen him play, but when he is driven and focused, he can play with the best of them. Myles will be a security blanket for the Jazz if Kanter decides to leave.
- Boston | Justise Winslow | 6-6 | 229 | SG/SF | Duke | 18
Athleticism personified, this lefty can defend, handle the ball, and has “winner” all over him. Reminds me of MKG. Would fit well depending on if we are still in a rebuilding mode next season or maybe a playoff team.
- Detroit | D’Angelo Russell | 6-5 | 180 | PG/SG | Ohio State | 18
Lots of raw talent, and a bit of a knucklehead, Russell can do one thing for sure…score. He would be a nice pick-up for the Pistons by adding three point shooting and swagger.
- Charlotte | Montrezl Harrell | 6-8 | 240 | PF | Louisville | 20
Think Kenneth Faried. This guy has a high-motor and is relentless in the paint. Charlotte would answer their PF problem if he falls to them.
- Indiana | Mario Hezonja | 6-8 | 215 | SG/SF | Croatia | 19
Stash and dash for the Pacers, Mario is an intriguing talent. For most of his young career, he has played PG and at 6 foot 8, how is that not intriguing?
- Chicago | Willie Cauley-Stein | 7-0 | 240 | C | Kentucky | 21
Fits the Bulls culture, with his shot-blocking prowess and defensive intensity. It would do Cauley-Stein some good by backing up Joakim Noah.
- Denver | Delon Wright | 6-5 | 190 | PG/SG | Utah | 22
BY FAR THE BEST PG IN THIS CLASS. Wright has been the leader of his Utah team and is having a season similar to Damian Lillard’s last season at Weber State. Delon is the younger brother of Dorell Wright. Wright fill the need Denver has at the back-up PG position.
- Oklahoma Cty | Kevon Looney | 6-9 | 220 | SF/PF | UCLA | 18
Probably one of the more unknown talented of the freshmen class, Looney is a bouncy point forward who can rebound and pass with the best of them. No real post game, but is only 18 and can learn one. Looney can wait and learn from the outstanding players on OKC’s roster.
- Houston | Caris LeVert | 6-7 | 200 | SG | Michigan | 20
The only bright spot at Michigan this year, LeVert is only just tapping his potential. He has shown he can score in a variety of ways. Unfortunately, LeVert has had a season-ending injury and will no longer be able to showcase his talent. LeVert would be a nice instant offense player, for one of the best offensive teams in the league.
