So, I know the Boston Celtics will be vying for an 8th seed all year, considering the East is so weak. I mean we just lost to the Brooklyn Nets and we are still only a few games out of the playoffs. BUT, I don’t know about you…but I definitely find myself as a Celtics fan, looking forward to the future. And in the early College basketball season, the future is bright for the NBA.
Young freshmen have been taking the basketball world by storm, with their unrivaled athleticism, staggering numbers, and they have really impressed in the leadership department for their teams. All these young men will be making a case for an NBA team this offseason, and I wanted to give everybody an early look at the top 10 prospects I have right now in my NBA 2015 mock draft, As the year goes by, I will keep updating it to keep y’all in the College Basketball loop:
Steviechillz’s Mock Draft #1
1. Philadelphia | Jahlil Okafor | 6-11 | 270 | C | Duke | 19 What can you say about this guy? This Dukie is the coveted gem of the 2015 class due to his skill in the post, his ability to dominate on the boards, and he has a GREAT feel for the game.
2. New York | Emmanuel Mudiay | 6-5 | 190 | PG | Congo | 18 Mudlay is the great unknown, but based off of his play in highschool and overseas, this guy has ELITE talent and athleticism. A more athletic Marcus Smart.
3. Detroit | Karl-Anthony Towns | 7-0 | 250 | C | Kentucky | 19 Before he got big in Kentucky, I thought he looked extremely awkward on the floor. Since Kentucky began the season, Towns has shown his unique skill set as a 7-footer who can shoot and handle the ball. More importantly, We have seen his defense on showcase in Kentucky’s undefeated season.
4. Minnesota | Stanley Johnson | 6-7 | 245 | SF | Arizona | 18 Athletic, all-around defender. A smaller clone of Andrew Wiggins.
5. Charlotte | Montrezl Harrell | 6-8 | 240 | PF | Louisville | 20 Think Kenneth Faried. This guy has a high-motor and is relentless in the paint.
6. Utah | Caris LeVert | 6-7 | 200 | SG | Michigan | 20 The only bright spot at Michigan this year, LeVert is only just tapping his potential. He has shown he can score in a variety of ways.
7. Indiana | Kevon Looney | 6-9 | 220 | SF/PF | UCLA | 18 Probably one of the more unknown talents of the freshmen class, Looney is a bouncy point forward who can rebound and pass with the best of them. No real post game, but is only 18 and can learn one.
8. LA Lakers | Delon Wright | 6-5 | 190 | PG/SG | Utah | 22 BY FAR THE BEST PG IN THIS CLASS. Wright has been the leader of his Utah team and is having a season similar to Damian Lillard’s last season at Weber State. Delon is the younger brother of Dorell Wright.
9. Orlando | Myles Turner | 6-11 | 240 | C | Texas | 18 Shot-blocker with the ability to make the 25 foot jumpshot. He does tend to disappear in some of the games I’ve seen him play, but when he is driven and focused, he can play with the best of them.
10. Boston | Justise Winslow | 6-6 | 225 | SG/SF | Duke | 18 Athleticism personified, this lefty can defend, handle the ball, and has “winner” all over him. Reminds me of MKG |
