2019-20 saw Jayson Tatum take huge strides forward, becoming an All-Star and his team’s undisputed number one option. It appears only logical that the Boston Celtics wing is destined for even greater things moving forward. If he works on a few areas of his game, he could even one day find himself in the discussion for league MVP.

The 2019-20 regular season was undoubtedly kind to Boston Celtics third year wing Jayson Tatum. After a rough second year many deemed a “sophomore slump” the 22 year old seemed motivated to prove that he’s been worthy of the exorbitant hype surrounding him throughout the duration of his young career.

And proved it he did!

Through 59 games Tatum put up career highs seemingly all across the board. Averaging 34.6 minutes, the wing stuffed the stat sheet with 23.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals and just shy of a block per game on 45 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent shooting from deep.

Thanks in large to his excellence, by the time of the season’s suspension, the C’s managed to compile a record of 43-21 (third best in the Eastern Conference, fifth best in the NBA), clinch their sixth consecutive postseason berth and, for the first time in his career, Tatum was named an Eastern Conference All-Star.

Yup, after an underwhelming 2018-19 campaign, Jayson Tatum managed to restore full confidence in the hearts of fans and media alike and ascended into the star-status that so many predicted he would.

Now, in regard to his career trajectory, this achievement appears to be just the beginning. Who knows where his illustrious mountain of success will peak!

Perennial All-Star? All-NBA?

Heck, the talented forward could realistically find himself in the conversation for league MVP at some point down the road. However, if he wishes to one day be in consideration for the NBA’s highest individual honor, he must achieve these three goals.
