It’s official, Space Jam 2 will be made and LeBron James will star in it

In case you haven’t heard yet, Space Jam 2 is happening. It’s in the early stages and a script is only now being written but LeBron James will be starring in the movie. James is most famous for what he can do on the basketball court but he did act in Trainwreck. He actually did a really good job in the movie by making fun of himself and it gives fans of the original Space Jam hope that he could carry on Michael Jordan‘s acting legacy.

The director of the movie is going to be Justin Lin, the director of Fast and Furious 6.

In the original Space Jam, Shawn BradleyLarry Johnson, Muggsy Bogues, Charles Barkley, Larry Bird and Patrick Ewing all had a role in the movie. So, we know that it’s going to happen and LeBron will star in it, but what other NBA stars should be alongside LeBron James?

All sorts of names have been thrown out for who should play what characters. It’s ranged from Kristaps Porzingis to Elena Delle Donne of the WNBA. In fact, the Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas has also been mentioned to duplicate the small guard role that Muggsy Bogues played.

If Justin Lin wanted to have another short player have his talents stolen then there’s no better option than Isaiah Thomas. After tying Calvin Murphy this season for the shortest All-Star selection in NBA history, Thomas has broken onto the NBA stage and has presented himself as a star.

The little point guard averaged 22.2 points and 6.2 assists per game this past season. The Monstars would not only gain six inches – Bogues was only 5’3″ – but they would also become better scorers. Bogues only averaged at least 10 points per game three times during his career. He was known as a passer, which is maybe what The Monstars were searching for.

The Monstars would also be able to sport a headband and could change sneakers at halftime. Thomas also showed he can be feisty like them when he hit Dennis Schroder in the head and sparked an intense rivalry between them for the rest of the series.

Next: Could 2017 be the Celtics Busy Summer?

Isaiah Thomas is becoming more and more well-known around the NBA community and should be considered a star. Maybe they’ll choose an established star like Russell Westbrook or Damian Lillard to lose their talent. It would help the Celtics to have their star player keep his powers in the fictional world, but it’d be cooler to see Thomas starring in a movie.
