According to league sources, Kevin Garnett will not be penalized for spreading some Christmas cheer at the end of the Celtics 106-104 loss to the Knicks Christmas day. As the game ended, KG and former Celtic/teammate Bill Walker became entangled and had to be separated by a host of players and coaches. Now that the preseason is over, yeah you missed it, the Celtics have to get down to business and square away the roster. The Celtics are already above the salary cap threshold, so any changes to the roster are going to need to come from within. From here on out, the Celtics can only sign players for the league minimum. With each passing day and each passing missed practice, the Boston Celtics are in jeopardy of suffering yet another catastrophic blow to the roster. Captain Paul Pierce, who has been dealing with a sore heel, has only been able to participate in practice just once since camp opened. Granted, camp has been only open for a minute, but you get the point. The Boston Celtics announced Saturday that reserve forward Jeff Green will miss the entire 2011-2012 season to have surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm. The news is far worse than anyone had imagined and sheds some light on why the Celtics delayed making an announcement until now. Head coach Doc Rivers took a few minutes yesterday after practice to provide an update on the health of stars Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce. “Paul will be out until around Monday. That’s what Eddie said, he thought he could possibly play [in Toronto], but why take the chance going from no practice to playing in an exhibition game. So, we’re probably going to leave him back. The Boston Celtics brought back forward Marquis Daniels back for the third time this week. The move did not come as a surprise to many who follow the Celtics, but it sure is nice to have a player of Daniels’ caliber back in the fold. Daniels knows the system and can be a versatile player for Doc off the bench. Part of the process of playing an abbreviated season means that all teams could of possibly played between 1-3 back-to-back-to-back game swings. When the scheduled was released, the Celtics were scheduled for this only once. Starting on April 13th, the Celtics will play at Toronto, at New Jersey and then at Charlotte on three consecutive nights. Each passing day brings us a new set of Chris Paul rumors. With all that is circulating, there seems to be the sense that the Hornets are intent on making a deal sooner rather than later.
