Celtics News And Notes: Kevin Garnett Is Back and Nate Robinson A Celtic?
By bpaul
Before I get into a few things that went down in Celtics nation today I want to apologize for the site being down for the majority of the day. Unfortunately for us it was out of our control so we had to patiently wait to get the word that the server was back up. Again we apologize for this inconvenience and hope it doesn’t happen again in the near future.
Kevin Garnett Is Back
Now on to something that really matters, the Boston Celtics. After suffering a very disappointing 99-90 loss against the Mavericks last night the Celtics were back on the court this afternoon in Waltham. The C’s are preparing to get back on the right track against the Detroit Pistons Wednesday night in Detroit. With all the losses (4-7 in last 11 games), and injuries, it has been really hard to find positive news about this team lately. Today that all changed when multiple sources claimed that Kevin Garnett was on the court and fully participated in practice.
The news first broke over Twitter from ESPN Boston’s Chris Forsberg. Forsberg tweeted over pictures and videos that included Garnett participating in offensive drills during practice, and long range jumpers at the end of practice. Here are a few tweets from Forsberg during today’s practice in Waltham, MA:
"Garnett on court and practicing in 5-on-5 drills.First time in seemingly forever that C’s have full 1st team. Rasheed appears to be resting foot on sideline… http://twitpic.com/ytp6oBetter shot of KG in action (HD video going to YouTube now, too)… http://twitpic.com/ytpsiYou could feel the energy level heightened with KG back today. Very big lift for a struggling team to know he’s close."
I guess after today we can finally stop doubting his return, well maybe not stop but at least feel a little bit more comfortable that he will return soon. After seeing Garnett on the court today I questioned earlier whether or not he might play in tomorrow night’s game. Doc Rivers quickly put those talks aside after practice by saying there is NO chance he plays tomorrow against Detroit. As reported late last week it is still assumed that Garnett will return to the lineup Friday night at home against Portland.
Kryptonite a Celtic?
In other news that may be depressing to some Celtics fans or exciting to others, there are reports that the Celtics HAVE offered a contract to New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson. The rumor was first reported by Marc Spears from Yahoo Sports during an interview on 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston. No details of the offer have been released and quite honestly nobody knows how true this is.
I am sure this will stir up a lot of talks around Celtics Nation because with Nate you either love him or hate him. Everybody knows that he is very good at the game of basketball but his attitude remains to be a huge question mark in a lot of people’s mind.
On The Road
The Celtics are now hopping on a plane and heading to Detroit for tomorrow night’s game. They look to end their two game losing streak and get back into the win column. It is pretty clear that Kevin Garnett will not play so you can probably expect the same lineup that we saw Monday night against the Mavs. Make sure to check out Hardwood Houdini tomorrow for an in depth preview of tomorrow night’s game.
