The Boston Celtics have a tough turnaround on Thursday, as they went to overtime last night in a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Jayson Tatum put together a dominant fourth quarter and overtime on Wednesday, and he’s one of my favorite players in the prop market on Thursday night.
Plus, this could be a bounce-back spot for Derrick White, who has struggled with his shot as of late.
Let’s dive into the picks for Jan. 11:

Celtics vs. Bucks best NBA prop bets
- Derrick White OVER 23.5 points, rebounds and assists
- Jayson Tatum OVER 27.5 points
- Bobby Portis UNDER 9.5 points
Derrick White OVER 23.5 points, rebounds and assists
I broke down this play for White in today’s NBA Best Bets column on BetSided, as it is one of my favorite picks of the day:
“This is a buy-low chance on Derrick White, who has not shot the ball well as of late for Boston. With Al Horford out, White and the rest of Boston’s starters should see even more run against Milwaukee.
"White is averaging 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game on the season, clearing 23.5 PRA in 16 of his last 23 games. Usually, White has had slightly higher prop numbers than Jrue Holiday, but they’re both at 23.5 PRA tonight.
“I’ll take the value on White, who is due for a bounce-back shooting night after 3-for-11 and 4-for-16 shooting performances.”
Jayson Tatum OVER 27.5 points
Tatum has been on fire as of late, clearing this total in six of his last eight games, averaging 31.8 points per game over that stretch.
This game could be uptempo (Milwaukee plays at the No. 4 pace in the NBA), which should mean more possessions, and the Bucks don’t really defend anyone this season – clocking in at No. 21 in defensive rating.
Tatum torched the league’s top defense on Wednesday, so I think it’s very reasonable he can get to this number in a game that is crucial for Boston to hold on to the No. 1 seed in the East.
Bobby Portis UNDER 9.5 points
I’m not sold on this prop for Bobby Portis, as the Bucks forward has seen his minutes decrease as of late.
With Al Horford out, Boston may try to play some small ball in this game, which isn’t conducive for Portis getting a major workload.
Bobby P has failed to clear 9.5 points in six straight games and seven of his last 10.
Also, over that stretch he has just five games with double-digit shot attempts. I simply can’t take him against a solid Boston defense with his minutes on the decline.
