Celtics odds’ to win NBA championship skyrocket after Game 6 victory

The Boston Celtics are on the verge of history, and oddsmakers think they’ll finish the job in Game 7 against the Miami Heat on Monday.

Boston is an eight-point favorite in that game, but more importantly, the Celtics’ odds to win the NBA Finals are continuing to skyrocket with each win.

Entering Game 6, the Celtics were +280 to win the NBA Finals, which was still ahead of Miami (+550 at the time). However, that number has shrunk to just +125 after Boston’s thrilling Game 6 victory.

Derrick White’s tip in as time expired, one of the more heads up plays you’ll ever see, forced a winner-take-all Game 7 which will take place on Monday night in Boston.

Dating back to last season, Boston has won three Game 7s, beating the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami last season and the Philadelphia 76ers this season. Two of those wins came at TD Garden.

Latest odds to win the NBA Finals

This number suggests that the Celtics are going to play Denver in the NBA Finals, but bettors may want to consider betting on Boston before Game 7 is played.

The Celtics came into the Eastern Conference Finals at even money (+100) to win the NBA Finals, and they’ve been the consensus favorite for most of the 2022-23 season. There’s a good chance that after Game 7 (if Boston wins) that the Celtics open as favorites over the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals.

Because of that, it may be worth taking Boston at +125 if you think the team is going to win it all. It could be the most value that the team has going forward.
