Justin Jackson

Like Noah Vonleh, Justin Jackson has a December 15 trigger date before his contract gets guaranteed. While Jackson’s fully guaranteed salary is less than Vonleh’s — the big man’s $2,463,490 cap figure is slightly higher than Jackson’s $2,133,278 — they have identical $1.8 million partial guarantees they’ll receive no matter what happens on the 15th of December.

Boston Celtics interim head coach Joe Mazzulla has not called on Justin Jackson much this season, giving him garbage minutes against the Chicago Bulls after the game was out of reach and against the Washington Wizards when the win was clinched.

Jackson has clearly not proven to be rotation-worthy in practice even after shooting well during the preseason. If the Cs choose to find someone on the wing that can spell Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum with more frequency, Jackson would be the clear option to cut. With that said, perhaps giving Jackson more minutes could eventually lead to him revealing himself as the kind of caliber player worth keeping.

If he can’t find the floor, though, there must be a valid reason — and that reason doesn’t seem to be on the side of the 2017 first-rounder.
