What we need to see from Boston Celtics No. 2) A show-out performance from Grant Williams

Seemingly all offseason long, one of the biggest storylines related to the Boston Celtics was how power forward Grant Williams was working on improving himself both physically as well as skill-set-wise.

Through the first three games of the preseason, it’s been rather evident that, based on his physique, he certainly managed to accomplish this first objective, as he’s noticeably slimmer and appears to have a bit more acceleration on both ends of the floor.

However, the latter objective has yet to be showcased during his preseason run thus far, as he’s finding himself posting averages of just 6.3 points, three rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 17.6 minutes per game.

Now yes, while his shooting splits of 40 percent from the floor, 57 percent from deep, and 75 percent from the free-throw line are indeed efficient, even these, unfortunately, have not necessarily helped him move forward within the pecking order at the forward spot and, with Jabari Parker‘s impressive production thus far, especially in the scoring department (8.5 points on 75 percent shooting from deep), his road to ample playing time has become even more complex.

In order to secure a worthwhile role within the rotation, Grant Williams needs to have himself the best game of his 2021 preseason run against Miami, otherwise, he could prove our prediction right and turn out to be the odd man out in the C’s rotation.
