Boston Celtics: 5 players to pursue from the Pacific Division

Free agent target from the Sacramento Kings: Richaun Holmes, C
With the acquisition of Al Horford, you might be thinking “why is Richaun Holmes on this list?”
I, personally, don’t think that Horford will be running the five again for the Boston Celtics so they still need someone in the rotation with Robert Williams.
Holmes is a very underrated center because he plays on one of the smallest market teams in the NBA. He’s not a shooting big man so he doesn’t get the love that he deserves but he’s a force to be reckoned with in the paint.
He’s solid defensively but is a better scorer and that’s what the Celtics need. After the trade of Daniel Theis, Boston didn’t have a center that could score consistently and that’s what Holmes is the best at.
He’s not going to put up huge rebounding numbers, but he’s not easily moved down low. He’s a solid shot-blocker and is able to force turnovers just by being a presence in the paint.
He was solid in Phoenix but really broke out when given more opportunities while on the Sacramento Kings.
Holmes has a good chance of making it to the open market and the Boston Celtics can get a starting-caliber center for relatively cheap.
Whether he would start over Robert Williams or not is yet to be determined but if he doesn’t, he’s a serious scoring threat off the bench especially when going up against another team’s best bench players. Holmes isn’t a big name signing but the Celtics don’t need big names — they need players that can play.
