Boston Celtics target No. 4) Isaiah Thomas

*BANG, *BANG, *BANG!

For those who aren’t aware, above are the written out sound effects of me beating the proverbial drum calling for a reunion between the Boston Celtics and former franchise point guard Isaiah Thomas.

As recent reports suggest, the 2016-17 MVP candidate is close to making his return to the league and has been in contact with multiple teams.

We understand that there are a bevy of fans who agree with us when we at the Houdini say we hope the Cs are one of those teams he’s in communication with.

As things currently stand, Boston could seriously use for an improvement off the pine in regard to their scoring punch. Ranking 20th in points, 18th in assists, 15th in assists, and 13th in offensive rating, a guy like IT would likely be welcomed to the franchise with open arms.

Last we saw him was with the Washington Wizards where, through 40 games, the point guard averaged 12.2 points and 3.7 assists on 41 percent shooting from both the field and downtown.

Like our reasoning with Shabazz Napier finding himself on this list, with the uncertainty surrounding Kemba Walker’s knee, you can never be too careful with insurance policies. Being how well Thomas has proven to play in this exact system, I’d say there aren’t many players that could fit the bill as a perfect grab for such a situation.

During his last season in a Brad Stevens scheme, Thomas posted unbelievable averages of 28.9 points, 5.9 assists, and just shy of a steal per game on 46 percent shooting from the floor and 38 percent shooting from deep on his way to his second-consecutive All-Star selection as well as an All-NBA Second Team selection.

Still viewed by Marcus Smart as an asset that would help teams win right now, bringing Isaiah Thomas back to the Boston Celtics would be a solid depth bolstering move at the point, a great addition of a much-needed scoring piece off the pine, and an all-around feel-good story for fans and players alike.

This NEEDS to happen!
