Dennis Smith Jr.

Dennis Smith Jr. has a manageable contract and explosive abilities as a backup point guard. Unfortunately, his game could use some nuance. Efficiency is a skill that the former NC State star needs to add to his resume.

Given the C’s recent selection of Payton Pritchard out of Oregon, it is clear Boston has seemingly already filled their second-unit floor general vacancy Brad Wanamaker left behind–if you even consider Wanamaker to have filled that vacancy.

Smith Jr. doesn’t bring enough versatility to warrant acquiring him.

Frank Ntilikina

Frank Ntilikina is a different story. The French national team point guard is a defensive pest with his length and reach, ball-hawk passing lanes and occasionally stepping outside the arc to knock down a long-ball.

Boston should do everything in its power to get him back in a sign-and-trade for Hayward.

Reggie Bullock

The Houdini is stumped here. Reggie Bullock is a nice end of the bench piece, but there are better free agents available than he is and are more worthy of a roster spot on the Boston Celtics.

R.J. Barrett

While R.J. Barrett would be an unbelievable get in a Hayward sign-and-trade…it’s not happening.
