Potential Boston Celtics free-agent target No. 6) Pat Connaughton

The inclusion of Pat Connaughton in Washburn’s article was an intriguing one for the Houdini.

Though he may not be the “sexiest” of players slated to be available on the open market this offseason, the shooting guard is a talent with copious amounts of postseason experience and is an individual who rarely makes mistakes.

A sound role player who, for the past two years, has been logging minutes for the Milwaukee Bucks, the 26-year-old finds himself heading into free agency with the opportunity to jump ship.

Through 67 games, Connaughton posted solid averages of 5.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and half a block per game on 46 percent shooting from the field and 33 percent shooting from downtown.

Possessing a sound combination of bounce — a 2020 NBA Slam Dunk contestant –, floor spacing abilities, and natural defensive tenacity a talent such as Connaughton could prove to be a cheap roster-filler for any number of contending teams.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that the Boston Celtics have minimal roster-space available, even though the cost is right the room within the rotation might be better filled with one of the team’s first-rounders or even one of their 2019-20 two-way players such as Tremont Waters or Tacko Fall.

The Houdini likes Pat Connaughton’s hustle and effort when on the court, but the signing just wouldn’t have much of an impact on the shamrocks.

Verdict: Pass
