Enes Kanter

Ever the poet, Enes Kanter is a force off the court just as much as he is on the court. He is frequently active on social media, often advocating for the rights of his people in Turkey. Kanter was a bargain-bin deal for the Boston Celtics when they signed him to a two-year deal worth $10 million.

The second season on the pact is a player option, and that is where the COVID-19 virus comes into effect. We don’t know when this season will resume, and we don’t know when the official free agency period will begin.

Kanter has underwhelmed this season, averaging his lowest points and minutes totals since the 2012-13 campaign. The mid-level exception may go down in value, and worse yet for Kanter, his lackluster play before the season was suspended (less than four points per game) might be the most recent memory for general managers.

It could certainly resonate with Danny Ainge, who has seen his bench fail to deliver as the Celtics have fell behind in the race for the #2 seed.
