3 teams the Boston Celtics should keep an eye on in buyout market
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers come to mind as an option due to one man and one man only: Tristan Thompson. While there could theoretically be several buyout candidates on this losing roster, Thompson is the one that holds value for the Boston Celtics.
We don’t know if Thompson is the answer for Joel Embiid. The Athletic’s Jared Weiss recently shared a tweet with an embedded video of the two going at it and well…he certainly didn’t look like the missing piece for the C’s:
Regardless, the Cavaliers recently acquired Andre Drummond, which means Thompson–currently in the midst of a career-year–is likely to be demoted to the second unit to test out the Kevin Love-Drummond pairing.
If Thompson hits the open market, there are worse moves to be made by Boston’s front office than to give a shot to an NBA champion whose motor and rebounding are unquestionable.
