Josh Smith is going to be an Atlanta Hawk at least for the rest of this season according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski. Moments before the deadline the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets pulled out of the deal. Milwaukee, instead, opted to deal for J.J Redick.

Josh Smith was the most highly coveted commodity that was said to be available in the past few months. The belief is that he wants a maximum deal worth $90 million over the next five years and the Hawks aren’t willing to pay him that. Now, instead of being traded and keeping the extra $23 million dollars that he would’ve made, Smith will have to accept less money in free agency.

Smith will still be sought after by many teams in the offseason. It was believed that the Hawks asking price for Smith was too high. They were looking for young players to develop, expiring deals, and draft picks. They’re trying to ensure that they’re able to attract and sign Dwight Howard as a free agent this offseason. The team that Smith would’ve been sent to would’ve had to mortgage their team for this year and wouldn’t have been very competitive at all.

Here is the tweet from Woj:

Josh Smith will stay in Atlanta, league source tells Y! Sports. No deal.

The Celtics have long needed a scoring touch off of the bench. With Leandro Barbosa and Rajon Rondo out for the season, they’ve needed guard play as well. Chris Broussard of ESPN.com has reported taht the Celtics are looking to move Melo for the Washington Wizards’ benched gunner, Jordan Crawford.

Crawford hasn’t played a game for the Wizards since the February 6th against the New York Knicks. He’s shown clear frustration with his playing time in Washington and has been reported to have requested a trade. Crawford has averaged 13.2 points–on 41% shooting–and 3.7 assists in 26.2 minutes per game.

The Houston Rockets have come out making waves on the NBA’s press wire. The Rockets will send Marcus Morris to the Phoenix Suns for just a future second round pick according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski. It was widely expected that the Rockets would deal at least one forward on the deadline. It turns out that they dealt two and brought back one more.

Wojnarowski, just moments later, reported that the Kings dealt forward Thomas Robinson, Francisco Garcia, and Tyler Honeycutt to the Houston Rockets for Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich, and Toney Douglas. What a catch for Daryl Morey and crew. They had Robinson targeted on draft night but they didn’t have the firepower to continue to move up the board. It wasn’t widely known if he was available or not, but it turns out that he was.

Here are the tweets from Woj himself:
