Jason Terry called the Orlando Magic “terrible” and they did everything to prove him right. The Celtics (41-39) got one of their easier wins of the season, defeating the Magic 120-88. The 32-point margin doesn’t even do Boston justice as to how much of a blowout it was.

The Magic (20-60) can put most of the blame on their defense, which allowed the Celtics to shoot a staggering 59.5 percent from the field, and 62.5 percent from beyond the arc. Every Boston starter scored in double-figures, but it was Courtney Lee’s 20 points off the bench that led the Celtics.

Lee may be finding his groove again, after he scored 18 in yesterday’s game against the Heat. He had been struggling since returning from an ankle injury, but has looked good in his recent extended minutes.

After sitting out last night’s game in Miami, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett responded by scoring 12 and 14 points respectively. Better yet, with the Celtics taking a commanding lead from the first quarter, Doc Rivers was able to limit the veterans’ minutes.

Garnett played just 19 minutes, while Pierce tallied 27. Terry did not play at all, as he sat out for rest.

One guy who didn’t see his minutes restricted was Jeff Green. There had been some concerns whether Green would be able to play tonight after hurting his elbow in a scary fall last night. Green showed no signs of being hampered though, scoring 17 points in 37 minutes.

This should allow fans to breathe a sigh of relief. His level of play will likely mean the difference between first round exit or deep playoff run.

While it’s been a tough year for Orlando in the win and loss column, they appear headed in the right direction, with several young pieces to build with and an upcoming top five draft pick. Tobias Harris scored 22 in the losing effort, while Nikola Vucevic recorded yet another double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The win tonight has now secured the Celtics into the seventh seed in the East, and a likely playoff matchup against division rival, New York.

According to Jason Terry, tonight is a must win game. Not because of playoff implications, but simply due to the fact Orlando is “terrible.” With Orlando’s 20-59 record, it is hard to argue against Terry’s sentiments.

The Magic have the league’s second worst record, only behind the Charlotte Bobcats (18-61). As Celtics’ fans have witnessed though, playing the league’s bottom dwellers doesn’t always result in a pleasant outcome for Boston (40-39). The Celtics have lost to the Bobcats, Cavaliers, Pistons, and Hornets a combined eight times this season.

Having Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce back should help Boston avoid the upset though. Both Garnett and Pierce sat out in last night’s loss to the Miami Heat due to ankle injuries. With the playoffs quickly approaching and Boston’s playoff seeding all but solidified, rest is at a premium for the veterans.

The older players aren’t the only ones who may need a rest though. After throwing down a powerful dunk in the fourth quarter last night, Jeff Green came down hard on his elbow, forcing him to miss the rest of the game. While Doc Rivers and Green himself reiterated it is nothing serious, he’s listed as a gametime decision for tonight.

Even with Orlando’s poor record, there is still some youthful talent on the roster. Since being traded from Milwaukee at the trade deadline, Tobias Harris has broken out as a cornerstone to the Magic’s future. Harris is coming off a 30-point, 19-rebound performance on Wednesday night against his former squad.

The Magic also have the second best rebounder in the league this season. The 22-year-old, Nikola Vucevic, averages 11.9 rebounds per game, and has hit the 20 rebound mark his past two outings. That ability to rebound the ball will place pressure on the Celtics’ frontcourt to hold their own.

Boston’s rebounding woes have been on display all year. Ultimately if Boston is able to pick up the win tonight, they’ll permanently slot themselves into the Eastern Conference’s seventh seed, and can begin preparation for a first round battle with New York.

With Redick prepared to walk out of the door if not compensated properly, the Orlando Magic chose to deal him for expiring contracts and rookie deals. The Orlando Magic are sending J.J Redick along with Gustavo Ayon and Ishmael Smith to Milwaukee for Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb, and Beno Udrih according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.

It was expected that Orlando Magic were looking for a first round pick for Redick, but now the Magic will have enough cap space at the end of the season to go after multiple maximum contract players.

The Bucks will get a shooting guard who is efficient in his production shooting 39% from beyond the arch. Any minutes that he gets over Monta Ellis should be looked at as a plus for the Bucks.

It was widely thought that the Spurs were after Redick today, but it was reported that they didn’t have the assets to make the deal possible.
