Omri Casspi has become frustrated with falling out of the rotation in Cleveland.  The Israeli swingman has requested a trade according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, and Cavs GM Chris Grant has been fielding offers for the versatile forward.

Should the Celtics push to obtain Casspi?

Casspi is a good passer and could provide a lift off the bench.  He started 93 games his first three seasons in the NBA, and presumably the No. 23 overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft could help the Celtics with some scoring and energy off the bench.

One trade that would make sense for both the C’s and the Cavs would be the following:

Celtics trade:  Courtney Lee

Cavs trade:  Casspi and C.J. Miles

Casspi is an expiring contract, while Miles has two years on a deal that pays him $2.2 million per season.  Courtney Lee is expendable with Avery Bradley back in the fold, and the C’s could use Miles’ shooting, as he has been a sharpshooter and good scorer throughout his career.

The main focus on with the trade deadline approaching has been the acquisition of DeMarcus Cousins, but adding two role players could prove just as vital.  The added depth would improve the Celtics, at a low cost.

Lee, presumably, could step in and play big minutes either as the starter or backing up rookie Dion Waiters.  He would figure prominently in the Cavs’ future plans, while Casspi is seeing minimal minutes this season and Miles is seeing under 20 minutes a game as well.

Miles shot 39 percent from the arc last year, but has struggled this year, hitting just 33.7 percent of his treys.  His quick release would serve the C’s well, as Rajon Rondo’s drive & dishes would find a nice target in Miles on the wing.

Casspi’s versatility, as stated, would be great coming off the bench.

The move makes sense for both squads, so it would be great if Danny Ainge would consider making a move for the two swingmen while cutting ties with Lee.
