In a move long expected, Celtic president Danny Ainge announced that the Celtics will make a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Jeff Green. Said Ainge: “it will happen this week.” The move will allow the Celtics the right to match any offer made to Jeff Green. The Celtics will have until Thursday to make the move official.

During his time with the Boston Celtics, Jeff Green averaged 9.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in just over 22 minutes played per game. In the playoffs, Green’s points per game production dipped slightly to 8.4 points, but he’ll be most remembered for his two Game 5 miscues against the Miami Heat.

Green was acquired in a February NBA trade deadline deal that sent the beloved Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Oklahoma City Thunder in return for Green and center Nenad Krstic.

The legacy of Danny Ainge has been hitched to the most debated trade in team history. Jeff Green will be expected to make an impact should the numbers make enough sense for him to remain in the Bean.

In a move that trumps all, the NBA lockout is set to begin on Friday. Get’cha popcorn ready.

Reports are coming out of Russia that former Celtics center Nenad Krstic has agreed to a two-year contract for $8.8 million with Russian basketball club CSKA Moscow. The deal has not been officially endorsed and will not likely be until Krstic officially becomes an unrestricted free agent when the NBA league year ends in a few weeks.

Deja Vu all over again? A few years back Krstic signed with Triumph Lyubertsy of the Russian Super League following the 2007-2008 NBA season. The contract included an NBA out clause and Krstic exersised this option to join the Oklahoma City Thunder in December of 2008.

Krstic is merely the tip of the iceberg of potential NBA players flocking to Europe chasing big money if and when the NBA shuts down operations as they attempt to resolve the ongoing labor situation.

Celtic reserve center Nenad Krstic is drawing interest from Moscow basketball club CSKA Moscow as one of their potential off-season acquisitions. The move makes sense for the Serbian native as it presents an opportunity to make some big money whilst playing close to home. Over the next few months, NBA players will draw plenty of interest from overseas clubs as players begin to prepare for a potential NBA lockout.

Krstic will become an unrestricted free agent once the NBA season officially ends at the end of June.

On the season, Krstic averaged 8.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game splitting time between Boston and Oklahoma City.
