After getting snubbed by the voters of the Grammys a week earlier, pop sensation Justin Bieber took his frustrations out on the basketball court taking home MVP honors at the annual NBA celebrity game held during All Star weekend at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Bieber chipped in with 8 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists in a losing effort for team West. Scottie Pippen led the winning East squad with 17 points but somehow lost out on MVP when the judges came down with a bad case of Bieber Fever.

Rumors of Celtic President Danny Ainge signing Justin Bieber to a 10 day contract have not yet been verified.

Shockingly, KG seemed a lot cooler when he yelled it after winning the title in 2008 then I did when I heard the news today. I may or may not have been reading this month’s issue of Tiger Beat at the time.

Some guys named Bill Walton, Magic Johnson, Chris Mullen and Scottie Pippen will also play, along with Jason Alexander, Common and Ty Burrel.

In all seriousness, the thousands of screaming teenage girls in attendance will actually do us a favor by screaming so loudly that we’ll be unable to hear Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson as the game will be televised on ESPN at 7pm EST on February 18th.

The other night I tried to explain the “Gino” phenomenon to my wife and she had the same confused look on her face as I did when I sat down trying to think of a good reason why Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are famous.

“Gino Time” happens at each Celtic home game when the Celtics are on the verge of victory. The American Bandstand legend sends the crowd into a dancing frenzy with his awesome t-shirt and smooth dance moves. Little known fact time: The t-shirt is actually in reference to Italian-Canadian pop singer Gino Vannelli.

Sadly, Gino aka Joe Massoni died 20 years ago at the age of 34 due to pneumonia. Massoni may have left the world before his time, but his contributions to the game of basketball will live on forever.
