With rumors continuing to swirl around the possibility of Doc Rivers leaving the Celtics for the Los Angeles Clippers, it brings into question who will man the sidelines for Boston next year? Rivers has been the Celtics coach for the past nine years, but someone else may soon be calling the shots.

While the Clippers and Celtics have yet to officially agree to a trade that would send Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles, two names have already emerged as possible replacements.

In addition to Vinny Del Negro, former #Celtics asst. Lawrence Frank expected to emerge as candidate to replace Rivers as well.

Not only could the Celtics be trading players with the Clippers, but this indicates they may directly switch coaches. Del Negro was not re-signed by the Clippers this offseason after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. He led the Clippers to 56 wins in the regular season, but reportedly clashed with All-Star Chris Paul on several occasions leading to his dismissal.

Lawrence Frank served as an assistant with the Celtics back in 2010 before being named the Detroit Pistons head coach in 2011. Frank coached the Pistons for two seasons, going 54-94. While the record is not impressive, several of the Pistons young players like Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond made tremendous strides under his tutelage.

Other candidates still available include Lionel Hollins, George Karl and Brian Shaw.

If this rumored Celtics and Clippers trade is completed soon, Danny Ainge may look to hire a coach soon and establish some order in a shaken up franchise. With the NBA Draft less than two weeks away, naming a coach before then may also be imperative.

It may not be what the “Doc”- tor ordered, but Rivers’ future with the Celtics appears all but over.

After hitting a snag in trade talks over the weekend between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers, they appear to be right back on again. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Celtics and the Clippers have resumed talks and are pushing to get a deal done today.

(Getty Images)Discussions over a blockbuster deal reached an impasse on Saturday when Boston general manager Danny Ainge held firm that Bledsoe had to be a part of package that included DeAndre Jordan and a first-round pick, but sources say that Boston has shown a willingness to find another asset to supplant Bledsoe and complete the complicated deal, sources said.

This leaves a lot of questions for the Celtics if the deal gets done. Assuming that Deandre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe are apart of the deal, they’ll still have a lot of money dumped into a really bad team. They’ll have to pay Eric Bledsoe after someone offers him starting point guard money if they want to keep him.

Will the Celtics proceed to ship out Avery Bradley and Rajon Rondo after this deal gets done? They may try to rebuild with Bledsoe and Jordan going forward. Maybe they’re thinking that they may as well tear the entire house down instead of just bits and pieces of it.

Either way, this is an interesting development. We’ll have more as the situation continues to progress.
