Rookie Andre Drummond led the way with 16 points and was one of six players who scored in double digits as the Detroit Pistons (15-25) handed the Boston Celtics (20-20) their third straight loss 103-88.

Greg Monroe and Kyle Singler also had strong all around games for Detroit, Monroe scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out five assists while Singler had 13, eight rebounds and five assists for the home team.

Detroit used a strong first quarter to get out to an early 27-18 lead and expanded the lead up to 18 points in the second before Boston made a run to cut the lead to 47-46 with 1:15 left before half. Boston would again cut the lead to 55-54 after an Avery Bradley layup in the third.

The Celtics never led throughout and had one of their worst shooting performances of the season only hitting 39.8 percent from the field. Their usual stout defense was nowhere to be found either, allowing the Pistons to shoot 46.2 percent for the night while giving up many easy baskets at the rim.

Kevin Garnett and Courtney Lee each scored 16 points to lead the way for the Celtics in the losing effort. Rajon Rondo had a woeful shooting night going 4-16 from the field but was close to a triple-double yet again scoring eight points, grabbing nine rebounds and 15 assists. On the negative side, Rondo had a team-high nine turnovers and the Celtics had trouble taking care of the ball as a whole turning the ball 18 times for the game.

“We are playing awful and I am clearly not doing my job for this team and I am serious,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. “I am not trying to take a bullet for the team and I told them that. I said we have to find something where all 12 guys play the same way.” – ESPN.com

Both teams play again Tuesday night when Boston travels to Cleveland for a road matchup against the Cavaliers while Detroit hosts the Orlando Magic.
