Mike Bibby and the Washington Wizards have come to terms of a buyout making the veteran guard a free agent. Bibby had been vocal about his desire to be bought out after the Atlanta Hawks sent him packing at the NBA trade deadline.

The move does come as a surprise considering the amount of money previously owed to Bibby, some thought the money would be enough to keep him a Wizard for at least the remainder of the season.

Mike Bibby will draw an interest from a number of teams. The Celtics, Heat, Knicks and Trailblazers are considered to be the teams looking to add guard depth in time for the playoffs.

The recent injury to Delonte West heightens the need for a backup point guard as the duties currently reside with Avery Bradley and Von Wafer whilst West nurses his ankle injury. Bibby is not going to win a championship on his own, but he could be a valuable piece to the puzzle the Celtics need to win banner #18.

Sources say that Bibby wanted out of Washington so badly that he gave up his entire $6.2 million salary for next season.
