Player of The Week
RAJON RONDO

February 1st 2010 - February 7th 2010
No, we are not giving the Player of the Week to Rondo regardless to how he plays. Instead, he gets the award for being the only player on the team who wants to win. Who would have thought at this time last year we would be saying that Rajon Rondo, who we didnt think had the mental stability to play focused basketball in the NBA, was the only player on the Celtics playing for the goal, while everyone else did who knows what. Remember this past summer when everyone wanted him gone (or atleast some of us did…. I’m guilty) How quickly has he shut up people like me?Now, here is is today calling all the vets out and questioning their attention to detail. I think thats great.
So I’m not even going to go off on his stats, I didn’t even look at them actually. He was the leader of the team this week, and took over the “veteran” qualities of the big 3 and beyond in an attempt to get this team wins. Unfortunately for him, Rondo can not be the absolute leader of this team if we want to win the championship. It can’t happen. Look where it has gotten the C’s so far. They are just good enough to hang around with all the elite teams. Thats not good enough.
I am not taking anything away from him, because someday he will be the almighty leader of this team. For now, he must be a secondary leader, behind the Big 3. For that to happen, you guessed it, KG, Ray, and Pierce have to step it up. So pretty much this Player of the Week award is based around focus, and determination. Rondo was always the player coming in the game to try and recapture the lost effort that was created while he was on the bench.
This is Rondo’s 4th Hardwood Houdini Player of the Week award which extends his lead past Kevin Garnett who has 2.
