Strengths

Athleticism:

Jackson is an unbelievable athlete at 6’3″, and has so much bounce. He uses his athleticism when attacking the rim and getting into the lane, as well as on the defensive end of the floor. He is like a spring getting ready to take off. Jackson won the dunk contest that was part of the McDonald’s All-American game in 2016.

Motor:

Jackson is a fearless, relentless, and tireless competitor. He works extremely hard on both ends of the floor. For his size, he is a very physical guard, and is always willing to take on a defensive challenge. The mentality that he has will go a long way, and will make him a great leader down the road.

Weaknesses

Position:

Jackson is more of a scorer than he is a true point guard and distributor. He was forced to play a lot of point guard for Duke this past year, even though that is not his natural position. That experience will help him at the next level, as he will most likely be playing the point guard position in the NBA. Jackson knows how to score in a multitude of ways, but will need to improve his facilitating skills, court vision, and his ability to run the floor.

Unknown:

Jackson recently signed with an agent, which means his name will remain in the NBA draft. Jackson had a solid freshman season at Duke, averaging just under 11 points per game. Jackson’s talent and physical abilities make him worthy of first round consideration. However, with this draft being extremely deep, his draft range is up in the air. Will a team take a chance on him in the first round, or will he fall all the way to the late part of the second round?

Overview

Jackson is a terrific young guard, who you would love to have on your team. He is a tremendous athlete and competitor. We only saw flashes of his athleticism and perimeter shooting during his freshman year, but we will see more of both at the next level. His shooting will continue to get better and better. Jackson could have benefited from another year in college, but decided to remain in the NBA draft, and signed with an agent. He is ridiculously talented for his size, but questions with his position could hurt him.

Additionally, his lack of big and consistent games makes his draft status very unknown. Jackson could very well be a second round pick, but could really impress at workouts and interviews, and a team could take him in the late first.
