The Boston Celtics complete Summer League schedule

In a week filled with NBA Draft and trade rumors, it’s nice to take a step back and look at what else is happening around the NBA. Mass Live posted the Boston Celtics Summer League schedule for the upcoming year, and the Celtics have many intriguing matchups.

The Celtics will start the summer with three games in Utah but will conclude their Summer League play in the Las Vegas Summer League where there’s a tournament after the couple of games every team plays.

The Celtics first matchup of their Utah portion comes with a lot of intrigue. On June 4, they will take on the Philadelphia 76ers and most likely Ben Simmons. Not to mention the probable Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, and any other rookies the 76ers draft on Thursday.

They’ll follow it up with a game against the Utah Jazz the next day. The Jazz will most likely throw Trey Lyles and their first round draft pick into the game. Boston will conclude the Utah portion of their Summer League play on June 7 against the San Antonio Spurs.

They will quickly get back to work though as they fly to Las Vegas and take on the Bobby Portis led Chicago Bulls on June 9. The Bulls are expected to draft a point guard or another wing player in this year’s draft, making it a very interesting matchup against R.J. Hunter, who is expected to be a part of the Summer League Roster.

They will conclude the Las Vegas Summer League against the Phoenix Suns, who own three first round picks, and the Dallas Mavericks on June 12. They will hope to go deep into tournament play as the Las Vegas Summer League tournament runs from June 13 to June 18.

With eight draft picks, the Celtics should have one of the most intriguing rosters this year. Terry Rozier, R.J. Hunter, and Jordan Mickey should all see significant minutes, along with any other incoming rookies. Just like any year, this will be the first time the Celtics will see their rookies in action, although, we don’t yet know who will coach the team.

The Celtics record during these two leagues aren’t very important, rather it’s an indicator of who should spend time in the D-League and who is ready to see NBA minutes.

Either way, it’s hard to get really excited for the Summer League but the Celtics are proving that wrong as there should be a lot of excitement surrounding the team in the middle of July.
