For all the Celtics have gained in Jason Terry, Vince Carter doesn’t think the Mavericks will miss the sixth man. Vince, of course, assumes he’ll assume that role of providing punch scoring off the bench. It’s refreshing to see Carter embracing a bigger role, but even casual fans know that Vinsanity is more Vince-Sanity now, with waning athleticism and (until now?) questionable motivation.
“I’m down for it,” Carter said of the opportunity. “I’ll come in and help the team…just try to keep us going forward and not regress…I just try to do a little bit of everything to help the team.”
Terry is going to help the Celtics immensely and was signed as insurance in case Ray Allen decided to leave. That move by GM Danny Ainge paid off since Allen left just days after the Terry signing. Terry is going to assume his usual sixth man role with the C’s, as Doc Rivers declared Courtney Lee the starter even prior to the beginning of training camp.
Nonetheless, it seems Carter is underestimating the effect Terry had on the Mavs, and only his ego allows him to think that the Mavs won’t miss JET.
