Celtic superstar Rajon Rondo took to the powers of twitter to provide fans with a crucial piece of fashion advice: “Never wear socks with thong sandals.” Thankfully, I frequently check twitter before leaving home and saved myself some major embarrassment. With the lockout looking like it will last well into the future, NBA players are forced to find new lines of work and Rondo has clearly found his second calling.

All good things must come to an end, right? As Celtics fans we need to come to grips with the fact that we may have seen the last of the Big Three, or at least an acceptable version of the Big Three. Time is a far greater opponent than the new Big Two in Miami or any opponent from the soon to be powerhouse Turkish basketball league. NBA 2K12, the #1 selling basketball video game franchise, has announced they’ll have three separate covers for their latest installment featuring Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Last year’s installment featured only Michael Jordan and sold over five-million copies. This year’s will go on sale October 4th, no details yet as to what each respective cover would look like. The NBA released the 2011-2012 schedule on Tuesday. This is of course assuming the lockout thing is resolved. Schedule notes: 12 of first 19 games on the road. The C’s play at Miami and at Orlando on back-to-back nights in mid-November. Kendrick Perkins returns to Boston on January 16th for the first time. 20 back-to-back games this season with the back end being on the road 16 times. Compared to 19 and 11 last season. 24 games on national TV.

The Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks will square off on Christmas Day at Madison Square Garden. The playoff rematch is part of a Christmas Day mega line-up of games. The complete schedule is set to be released at 2pm on Tuesday.

The NBA lockout is going to force some players to do some crazy things. With Deron Williams and Kobe Bryant looking to take their collective talents to Turkey, Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade is looking to take his talents to….chicken?
