Celtics Injury Update

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

Seems like ages ago when we thought the Celtics were so deep that they would not have to make a deal at the deadline, well, times have changed and the moves made have started to pay off already and have put the team in better position than at any point in the season. Here is a quick rundown on where the C’s are from an injury standpoint: Ray Allen: Allen sat out of practice on Thursday with soreness in his legs. More of a routine rest rather than something to be concerned with. Glen Davis: Davis will be out 3-5 [...]

Leon Powe To Sign With Memphis Grizzlies

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

Old friend Leon Powe will sign a contact with the Memphis Grizzlies providing front court depth to a team gearing up to make a playoff push. Powe, who had been victim of the numbers game due to the Semih Erden, Luke Harangody trade, had expressed his desire to rejoin the Boston Celtics after being bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics instead brought in Troy Murphy and Sasha Pavlovic to solidify the depth on the bench, which given Powe’s struggles to remain healthy is looking like to be the correct move. The last thing the 2010-2011 Boston Celtics need [...]

Glen Davis Update: Out 3-5 Days

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tests on Big Baby’s injured knee came back negative and the Celtics 6th man will miss a few games with a strained patella tendon. Glen Davis received treatment whilst the Celtics practiced on Thursday and is expected to be out at least 3-5 days. Said Davis: “It’s a sigh of relief, but you don’t want to be hurt, anyway. You don’t want to sit out. But it could be worse. I’m just glad I’m here, I’m getting healthy and getting ready to play.” The Celtics will rely on newly signed forward Troy Murphy to pick up Big Baby’s minutes. This [...]

Kevin Durant Injury Update

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

Kevin Durant left Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers with an ankle injury and is expected to miss at least the next game. After being helped to the locker room, Durant was seen wearing a walking boot and said after the game: “Just a little tweak, I did it before. Just gotta see how I feel in the morning.” You be the judge, the injury looks pretty severe and could not have come at a worst time. The Thunder are in the home stretch of a playoff push and are clinging to the 4th seed. A lengthy Durant absence, with [...]

Glen Davis Strains Patella Tendon, To Have MRI

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

What looked like a routine two handed jam, with 49 seconds left in Wednesday’s game with the Phoenix Suns, sent Celtics fans into a state of panic over what could be another key player added to the mounting injury list. Davis landed and immediately began to limp off the court before eventually laying at center court whilst team trainer Eddie Lacerte and team physician Brian McKeon evaluated the situation. Said Davis following the game: “I don’t really know what’s going on, but I’ll get an MRI tomorrow, it was bothering me the whole year. I’ve just been tough, trying to [...]

Sasha Pavlovic, Come On Down.

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

Now that Corey Brewer has signed with the Dallas Mavericks and Mike Bibby has signed with the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics are expected to sign veteran guard/forward Sasha Pavlovic to solidify the depth on the wing. Pavlovic played in 10 games for the Dallas Mavericks this season and four with the New Orleans Hornets signing 10 day contracts in both cases. The deal should be completed on Thursday in time for the Celtics next game on Friday. At 6-7, Pavlovic will add depth to the shooting guard and small forward positions. Said team president Danny Ainge: “We have Delonte [...]

Dallas Mavericks Sign Corey Brewer AKA The Anti Mike Bibby

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: 14 Comments

Mike Bibby shocked the world by trading millions for a legitimate shot at a title. Corey Brewer took the most money available for a shot at losing in the Western Conference Finals. In fairness, the Mavericks still held onto a mid level exception and could offer Brewer millions versus the prorated veterans minimum the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat could offer due to their current salary situations. Brewer is known for outstanding defense and the Mavs made the right choice nabbing the prize of the buyout free agents not named Troy Murphy. The signing is easier to handle now that [...]

Rick Pitino And The Pesky Male Cheerleader

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

Consumed with what he thought was a game clinching bucket over Big East rival Pitt, Louisville male cheerleader Jordan Alcazar grabbed the basketball and tossed it into the stands. The problem with that? Well, there happened to be .5 seconds left and his actions forced the refs to assess Louisville with a technical foul. After hitting both of the freethrows Pitt made it quite interesting and eventually missed a desparation three point attempt, at the buzzer, giving Rick Pitino a closer win then what should have been. My thoughts on the video: 1. Rick Pitino should not wear white suits. [...]

New York Knicks Buyout Corey Brewer, Boston Bound?

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting that sources have the chase for Corey Brewer narrowed down to the  San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics. All teams are viable options and would benefit from a player with an ability to play superior defense the way Corey Brewer can. Brewer shockingly received a buyout from the Knicks today making him a free agent. Apparently, the Knicks had no room on their roster for players considered to be above average defenders. We’ll see what tricks Celtic president Danny Ainge has left up his sleeve on this one. Brewer would make [...]

Troy Murphy To Sign With Celtics, Take That Miami!

AUTHOR: | IN: Celtics | COMMENTS: None Yet

What a whirlwind 48 hours here in the Boston area as we patiently waited (at least we thought we were being patient) for the Troy Murphy saga to play out. Murphy signing with the Boston Celtics seemed like a lock a few days ago. That was until reports of Murphy staying with the Golden State Warriors and then joining Mike Bibby in Miami began to run rampant on the interwebs. Multiple outlets are now reporting that forward Troy Murphy will sign with the Boston Celtics as soon as he clears waivers, possibly as early as Wednesday. Give credit to team [...]
