Now that Corey Brewer has signed with the Dallas Mavericks and Mike Bibby has signed with the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics are expected to sign veteran guard/forward Sasha Pavlovic to solidify the depth on the wing.
Pavlovic played in 10 games for the Dallas Mavericks this season and four with the New Orleans Hornets signing 10 day contracts in both cases. The deal should be completed on Thursday in time for the Celtics next game on Friday. At 6-7, Pavlovic will add depth to the shooting guard and small forward positions.
Said team president Danny Ainge: “We have Delonte and he can play the two, but he’s a little smaller, we’d like to be able to play a little bigger guy.”
As an added bonus, Pavlovic has played in 42 career playoff games whilst with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the combination of the depth he adds to the bench and his playoff experience makes him an attractive signing that could pay dividends at a later point in the season.
For his career, Pavlovic has averaged 5.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game and shoots 35% from three point range.
