The NBA has fined Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers $15,000 for failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection on Friday night versus the Phoenix Suns.
Said Doc: “[Javie] actually came into our huddle. We were standing there, he came up to us. I’ll tell you exactly what was said. He said, ‘You guys are complaining way too much.’ And I said, ‘Well, let’s make the right calls.’ And his answer back was, ‘I’ll make a call for you.’ And that’s how I got the tech.”
Doc kept repeating “It’s all about you” leading to his second and final technical of the night giving him an early exit from the game.
Doc was clearly upset with how his team was playing and seemed to use the ejection as a way of rallying his team to up their collective performances. The ejection did none of that as the Suns continued to beat up the Celtics en route to a 88-71 victory on Friday night.
The Celtics are 1-1 on the current road trip after playing poorly in back to back games. Today the Celtics will face the Lakers for the first time since last year’s NBA finals.
