Phil Jackson Discusses The Celtics
Phill Jackson took some time out of his busy schedule to discuss the Lakers upcoming game with the Boston Celtics. Phil touched on a variety of topics and even gave Shaq a new nickname calling him “America’s symbol of salesmanship.” There is no doubt this a huge game for both clubs and you have the sense that it is killing Jackson to give the Celtics any sort of recognition. Both the Celtics and the Lakers have been playing inconsistent basketball over the last few weeks and will each need to bring their “A” game if they hope to escape today’s [...]
Lakers V Celtics Poll
Doc Rivers Fined 15K
The NBA has fined Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers $15,000 for failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection on Friday night versus the Phoenix Suns. Said Doc: “[Javie] actually came into our huddle. We were standing there, he came up to us. I’ll tell you exactly what was said. He said, ‘You guys are complaining way too much.’ And I said, ‘Well, let’s make the right calls.’ And his answer back was, ‘I’ll make a call for you.’ And that’s how I got the tech.” Doc kept repeating “It’s all about you” leading to [...]
NBA Trade Deadline Deals: Boston Celtics
The NBA trade deadline is just over twenty five days away and we thought we’d take a look at some of the deadline deals that took place over the last twenty or so years involving the Boston Celtics. Danny Ainge was on WEEI the other day and was saying that he does not see the Celtics as major players at this year’s trade deadline. The Celtics do not have a need for a starter and that takes them out of a blockbuster type of deal, but any GM worth his salt is always looking for a good deal to improve [...]
Boy Dunks Himself Through The Hoop
Well, with the Celtics reeling from an absolute drubbing from the Phoenix Suns, I was forced to scour the interwebs for awesome basketball related clips. This week’s installment involves a young lad you actually ended up dunking himself though the hoop? Was it planned, was it an accident? was it really Vinny from the Jersey Shore? Side note: apparently, Celtic bloggers, who are a few thousand sit-ups away from washboard abs, should not try to recreate this at their local Y. Side side note: does anyone know how to free a Celtic blogger, who is a few thousand sit-ups away [...]
Garnett Gets Ejected Against The Suns
Celtic power forward Kevin Garnett was called for a loose ball foul and was later ejected when things got testy between the two clubs. Hard to argue with Garnett as it was clear he got all ball, the ref is clearly nuts.
Glen Davis To Miss Second Half
Word out of the Celtics locker room is that key reserve Celtic Glen Davis will not play in the second half due to a strained hamstring. No word on a timetable and we’ll provide updates as soon as we have them.
Doc Rivers Discusses The All Star Snub
Head coach Doc Rivers spoke about this year’s all star game where not one Celtic was voted in as a starter. On the surface this seems outrageous, how can a team with the best record in the Eastern Conferance not have at least one starter? Well, as Doc goes onto explain. The snub just sums up the team quite well. The key word being team. The Celtics are pretty close to a complete team and do not have to rely on one or two players to shoulder the entire load. Look what happened when injuries struck the Heat, they could [...]
Doc Gets The Boot
Head coach Doc Rivers channeled his inner Terry Francona and got himself ejected from tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns desperately hoping to provide a spark. The Celtics were trailing 40-25 in the second quarter when Doc Rivers got technical. After Rondo had been fouled Doc got T’d up and drew another moments later signaling the end of his night. Based on the way the Celtics have been playing, I think Doc had the right idea. The C’s scored a season low 35 points in the first half on 34% shooting from the floor. Everything has been going right for [...]
Rondo To Allen Half Court Alley-Oop
One of the best plays from last night’s game was the half court alley-oop pass Rajon Rondo threw to Ray Allen. An unbelievable play from two of the game’s best players. Ray Allen just simply gets it done as a basketball player. He may be closing in on the all time three point record, but he knows how to take advantage of a defensive lapse leading to an easy bucket. The entire play took 4 seconds off the game clock, but it took much longer for the Trailblazers to recover from it.
